Doulas improve outcomes, reduce complications, and make for happier moms, babies and families!
What is a doula? Quite simply - a doula "mothers the mother". Doulas offer continuous emotional and physical comfort and act as a source of knowledge as well as a calming presence that is familiar with what labor and birth entail. |
What can I offer to you as your doula?
Experience...
I have had the honor of supporting over 140 families (with over 150 babies) at the births of their children. I have experience supporting unmedicated births, water births, induced labors, medicated births, Cesarean births (planned and unplanned), couples who have experienced infertility, and much more. And I have a special place in my heart for supporting VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) births. I attend births at home, in birth centers and in hospitals. I have worked at more than 10 area hospitals and am familiar with many different midwifery and obstetric practices. I can help you choose a practice that fits well with your needs and wishes.
Complete support...
My role as your birth doula is to help you have a satisfying birth as you define it. I do not have rigid ideas of what a 'perfect birth' should look like or what your birth should be like. I will offer you answers to your questions and support your choices. My clients appreciate the calm, easy-going demeanor I bring with me to each birth. I am there to protect your space and your process as you go through this transformation to parenthood (whether this is your first or fourth baby...).
Included in the doula fee is the following:
The fee for doula services is based on a sliding scale from $750 to $1100. The amount you pay is determined by you and your partner. A deposit of $400 is requested when the contract is signed. The balance is due at our postpartum appointment and is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to how much time we spent together, how satisfied you are with my services, how far I traveled to be with you, and your ability to pay.
