About Me
My name is EMILY PELTON, CD(DONA), ICCE. I am an experienced doula and perinatal educator, as well as an seasoned parent. I have been working as a doula since 2002 after being inspired by my own birth experience and am currently certified through DONA. I have been teaching childbirth education, breastfeeding and infant care classes since 2007. I am an ICEA certified childbirth educator (ICCE) and am experienced in lactation education and counseling. I am also AHA-certified to teach CPR. I live in northern Baltimore City near Belvedere Square with my partner, Michael, who is a wonderful bonus-dad to my 10-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son. In my spare time, I am a quilter's apprentice, a Girl Scout Leader and I help to run a Pokemon club. I enjoy exercising, walking with our dog, Pearl, spending time with family and taking day trips with my kids.
MY PHILOSOPHY is that the journey through pregnancy, labor and birth, and the postpartum period is highly personal and unique time for each woman and her family. There is no one "right way". My goal is to assist you in your journey to identify the things that are important to you and to help you build skills to work through this challenging but rewarding endeavor as well as arm you with the information you will need if anything deviates from your chosen course.
I am a big believer in ICEA's mission statement - "freedom of choice based on knowledge of alternatives" - Allow me to help support you as you find your way through your pregnancy and childbirth and on the road to parenting - a lifelong adventure!
